Ethos seeks a Hospice Medical Director to lead the medical component, guiding the interdisciplinary team in patient-centered hospice care and ensuring high-quality physician services. The role emphasizes collaborative decision-making and education within the hospice program.

The ideal candidate will have board certification or significant experience in hospice and related fields, and a strong commitment to ongoing medical education in end-of-life care.

Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted Ohio physician license.
• Current state and federal controlled-substance registrations.
• Hospice or palliative-care experience, or substantive training in end-of-life care.
• Knowledge of Medicare hospice eligibility, certification, recertification, and Conditions of Participation.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with attending physicians and interdisciplinary hospice teams.
• Commitment to continued medical education related to hospice and palliative medicine.

Job description

Hospice Medical Director

The Medical Director will assume responsibility for the medical component of the hospice program, serve as a clinical resource to the interdisciplinary team, support appropriate hospice eligibility and certification decisions, and help ensure continuity and quality of physician services.

The preferred physician will combine sound medical judgment with a collaborative, responsive approach to hospice care.

The Medical Director should be comfortable advising clinicians, educating community physicians, supporting eligibility decisions, participating in interdisciplinary care, and representing hospice professionally within the medical community.

Board certification or significant experience in hospice and palliative medicine, geriatrics, internal medicine, family medicine, oncology, or another closely related specialty would be valuable.
