Job summary

VITAS Healthcare is seeking a Medical Billing Specialist to manage end-to-end billing and collections for hospice claims with payers including Medicare, Medicaid, and managed care. The role requires on-site presence in our Miramar, Florida office Monday–Friday, with a hybrid schedule.

Ideal candidates have 3–4 years of healthcare billing experience, strong knowledge of payer guidelines, and proficiency in Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Qualifications

• 3–4 years of general office experience; healthcare billing experience preferred.
• Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and other third-party payer billing guidelines.
• Understanding of healthcare collections and reimbursement processes.
• Ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously.
• Strong interpersonal skills across organization levels.
• Proficiency in Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Process complete and accurate billing and follow up for hospice claims.
• Submit all claims via paper or electronic formats.
• Research and correct rejected/denied claims and rebill as needed.
• Monitor payers and aging reports; resolve delayed payments within defined targets.
• Coordinate with collectors and management on payer requirements and NOE submissions.
• Provide billing documentation to collectors and other staff as needed.
• Identify and communicate billing issues and potential process improvements.
