Job summary

Hospice Buffalo is seeking a part-time Inpatient Unit Registered Nurse for the Mitchell Campus in Cheektowaga, NY. The role involves 3pm-11pm shifts with rotating holidays and weekends to support our inpatient unit for patients whose symptoms require specialized care.

The ideal candidate will hold NY RN licensure, have hospice/palliative care experience or certification preferred, and possess a valid driver's license for on-call duties.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with current RN licensure in the State of New York.
• Certification in Hospice and Palliative Care Nursing preferred.
• Valid Driver's License, free of serious violations, and vehicle required for use when on duty or on-call.

Responsibilities

• Performs comprehensive assessments identifying physical, psychosocial, environmental, safety, emotional and spiritual needs related to terminal illness and documents findings.
• Performs pain assessments using Edmonton Scale and adheres to pain protocols to ensure optimal relief.
• Organizes and prioritizes assignments to meet productivity standards and complete documentation.
• Explains duties of the interdisciplinary team and articulates disease progression of common terminal illnesses.
• Modifies the care plan timely with anticipation of problems affecting patient safety or symptom control.
• Documents care using agency standards and maintains HIPAA-compliant records.

Hospice & Palliative Care Nursing certification (preferred)
