The Visiting Nurse Association is seeking a Hospice Aide to work nights in our Hospice House. Situated on a 4.2-acre secluded site, the Hospice House is surrounded by lush foliage, a pond with waterfall, a gazebo and numerous meditation areas. The VNA Hospice House, a unique blend of beauty and function, is the only in-patient hospice facility in Indian River County, for those facing life-limiting illnesses. Each of the 12 private bedrooms is completely handicapped accessible and has a private bath, sleeping accommodations for overnight family visitors, and screened patio with doors wide enough to allow bed access. At least one year recent CNA/HHA experience required.

Responsibilities

1. Under the supervision of an RN provides quality care on an individual basis according to need; to promote good health, hygiene, and comfort.

2. Under the supervision of an RN within a team approach, corrects knowledge deficits and assists patients reach their maximum potential regarding mobility.

3. Under the supervision of an RN within a team approach, corrects knowledge deficits and assists patients in reaching their maximum level of activities of daily living.

4. Under the supervision of an RN provides comprehensive care on an individual basis for additional procedures and treatments as assigned.

5. Provides thorough verbal reports regarding patients condition to ensure continuity of care. Observes and reports physical and mental changes to RN supervisor.

6. Provides thorough written reports regarding patient's condition to ensure continuity and quality of care. Maintains clinical records according to agency guidelines. Attends and participates in meetings pertaining to job responsibilities.

7. Promotes customer service. Able to work with a diversified group.

8. Follows policies and procedures and is compliant with regulations.

9. Maintains yearly CEU requirements.

Qualifications
  • Must have high school diploma/GED and current CPR card.
  • Must be currently certified as a CNA with the state of Florida
  • Must have certificate showing 75 hours HHA training
  • At least one year recent CNA/HHA experience required.
