Job summary

Hospice and Palliative Care of the Wood River Valley seeks an experienced Clinical Director to provide clinical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to the interdisciplinary team, focusing on clinical excellence, quality outcomes, and staff development.

This leadership and administrative role has no routine patient caseload, but includes on-call rotation and collaboration with the Executive Director, Medical Director, and clinical leadership team to support exceptional patient-centered care.

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensed in Idaho.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of hospice and/or palliative care experience, including progressive leadership responsibilities.
  • Strong knowledge of hospice regulations, Medicare Conditions of Participation, and interdisciplinary care.
  • Demonstrated expertise in symptom management, end-of-life care, and clinical mentoring.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical leadership, mentorship, coaching, and guidance to nurses and the interdisciplinary team.
  • Serve as a resource for complex clinical situations, symptom management, hospice eligibility, and goals-of-care discussions.
  • Support staff in delivering consistent, compassionate, high-quality patient care.
  • Collaborate with the Medical Director, attending physicians, specialists, and community healthcare providers.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with St. Luke's Health System and other referral partners.
  • Develop and deliver orientation, ongoing education, and competency training for clinical staff.
  • Mentor new clinicians and emerging clinical leaders.
  • Lead recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, development, and retention of clinical staff.
  • Provide high-level clinical management and conduct annual employee evaluations.
  • Support quality improvement, chart reviews, clinical audits, and regulatory compliance.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of clinical policies, procedures, and standards of practice.
  • Provide clinical consultation and occasional direct patient support when needed.
  • Participate in a limited clinical on-call rotation.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director and leadership team on clinical strategy, growth, and organizational initiatives.
