Job summary

Alamo Hospice is seeking a PRN Chaplain to join our team in San Antonio. This role offers flexible hours and the opportunity to provide compassionate spiritual care and bereavement support to patients and families in a well-established hospice program.

The Chaplain provides direct spiritual care, participates in the care plan, and collaborates with an interdisciplinary team. Interfaith sensitivity and CPE preferred; valid driver’s license may be required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited seminary or school of theology and/or a certificate of ordination or commission from a religious faith group.
• Completion of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) preferred.
• Hospice context experience is a plus.
• Comfortable working in an interfaith setting and with diverse beliefs.

Responsibilities

• Performs spiritual bereavement assessments for patients and families in the hospice program.
• Provides direct spiritual care and bereavement counseling to patients and families.
• Delivers compassionate, high-quality service to patients, families, and colleagues.
• Documents patient services accurately to reflect the plan of care.
• Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings to coordinate care.
• Offers consultation and education on spiritual care and bereavement support.
• May participate in on-call coverage and supervise spiritual care volunteers as needed.
• Develops and implements bereavement plans of care, offering services for up to one year after death.
