Job summary

Bluegrass Care Navigators is seeking a Hospice Chaplain to provide compassionate spiritual care to patients, families, and caregivers. The chaplain will conduct spiritual assessments, counseling, and guidance, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to support holistic care within organizational policies.

Location includes Barbourville, Pikeville, and Hazard regional offices. The ideal candidate holds a Master of Divinity, is ordained, completed 2 CPE units, and understands death,

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited seminary with a Master of Divinity or comparable master’s degree meeting eligibility for certification by APC/NAJC/NACC
• Ordination or equivalent endorsement and in good standing with the faith group
• Completion of two (2) units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE)
• Knowledge of death, dying, and bereavement processes
• Understanding of spiritual needs of terminally ill patients and families
• Knowledge of diverse faith traditions and ability to serve varied backgrounds
• Understanding of interdisciplinary healthcare team dynamics and collaboration
• Strong public speaking and community organization abilities
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate spiritual care and support to patients, families, and caregivers in accordance with hospice philosophy.
• Deliver spiritual assessments, counseling, and guidance directly or through community resources.
• Coordinate with community spiritual resources and collaborate as a member of the interdisciplinary team.
• Contribute to holistic patient care in alignment with organizational policies and licensure requirements.
