Job summary

Gentiva Hospice is seeking a compassionate Hospice Aide/CNA to provide hands-on care and emotional support to patients in homes, assisted living facilities, or inpatient units. You will perform personal care, monitor conditions, and document visits to ensure comfort and dignity at end of life.

Ideal candidates bring an active CNA license, CPR certification, and at least 6 months of direct patient care experience. A valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle are also required.

Qualifications

• Must have six (6) months of direct patient care experience.
• Active CNA license in the state of employment is required.
• Current CPR certification is required.
• Driver’s license and reliable vehicle with insurance is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct personal care to terminally ill patients.
• Assist with personal hygiene, grooming, and toileting.
• Support safe mobility with walkers and wheelchairs.
• Help with meal preparation, feeding, and light housekeeping.
• Observe and report changes in patient’s condition.
• Offer emotional and psychological support to patients and families.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of visits.
• Attend team meetings and participate in Quality Improvement activities.
• Practice infection control and safety protocols.

Essential Functions

About You

Qualifications – What You’ll Bring

• Active CNA license in the state of employment (Required)
• Current CPR certification (Required)
• Driver’s license and reliable vehicle with insurance (Required)
• Six (6) months of direct patient care experience (Required)
• Comfortable working in home settings, hospice facilities, or long-term care environments
• Demonstrated compassion, patience, and ability to handle emotional situations
• Willingness to work independently and adapt to changing patient needs

Preferred Background (Not Required)

• Experience in home health, hospice, palliative care, or oncology
• Prior roles in hospital nursing, ICU, geriatrics, med-surg, ER, telemetry, or nursing homes
• Exposure to end-of-life care, wound care, or admissions support
