Role Responsibilities: Hospice Aide/ CNA

• Report directly to the Administrator, Executive Director or Patient Care Manager Senior and function under the supervision of the Registered Nurse and/or Clinical Supervisor.
• Help the patient maintain good personal hygiene.
• Assist in maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
• Prepare and serve light meals.
• Assist in feeding patients when needed.
• Assist the patient in ambulation.
• Assist with the safe use of a walker or wheelchair as taught and supervised by the nurse.
• Assist with light housekeeping tasks such as emptying trash and changing linens.
• Assist with treatments as ordered on the aide plan of care and as allowed by state regulations.
• Promote patient’s mental alertness through engaging activities.
• Provide basic emotional and psychological support to patients and household members.
• Report any changes in the patient’s condition or home situation to the Registered Nurse and team.
• Demonstrate basic care techniques to the primary caregiver.
• Practice infection control and standard precautions.
• Accurately document visits and care provided.
• Attend staff meetings and participate in quality improvement activities.
• Complete documentation promptly as per orientation guidelines.

Qualifications: Hospice Aide/ CNA

• Must possess a CNA license.
• Compassionate, kind, and empathetic nature.
• Comfortable providing care in the patient’s home environment.
• Flexible and able to maintain composure in crisis situations.
• Six months of relevant patient care experience preferred.
• Current driver’s license and auto insurance.
• CPR certification.
