Job summary

Hospice of Cincinnati Anderson is seeking a dedicated Hospice Aide to deliver direct patient care and emotional support under a nurse’s direction. You’ll assist with bathing, feeding, ambulation, and companionship, maintaining comfort and dignity for patients and families.

This full-time role features 12-hour day shifts on a 3-week rotation, opportunities for growth, and a comprehensive benefits package. Prior healthcare experience and a current BLS certification are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 6 months to 2 years healthcare experience is required.
• Reading and math ability appropriate to the position.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days is required.

Responsibilities

• Performs and documents basic patient care tasks under the direct supervision of a nurse, including bathing, feeding, assistance with ambulation, providing companionship and emotional support, even during times of crisis; follows regulatory and organizational processes and practices to promote a safe clinical environment.
• Communicates effectively with the patient’s interdisciplinary team, including patient and patient family members.
• Performs equipment and supply related quality checks and reports problems/malfunctions appropriately.
• Monitors supply rooms, reports missing supplies, restocks supplies as needed.
• Complies with regulatory and organizational documentation requirements to ensure accurate reporting of clinical interactions and patient status; basic understanding of technology for documentation purposes.

Job Overview

The Hospice Aide I provides direct patient care to Hospice of Cincinnati patients under the direction of a nurse. The hospice aide will assist with, and/or perform basic activities of daily living, including bathing, feeding, assistance with ambulation, etc., and will serve as a provider of companionship and emotional support, even during times of crisis. The position is responsible for knowing safety policies and following approved procedures.
