Job Description

Summary of Essential Functions:

A Hospice Aide, committed to caring, is trained and competent in providing hands-on personal care, assisting with simple procedures as an extension of nursing or therapy, aiding in ambulation exercises, and helping administer medications (limited to assisting with water or fluids) under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). The aide contributes to all phases of the QAPI program and participates in interdisciplinary assessments and care planning with patients, their representatives, and caregivers.

Qualifications
  • Meets one of the requirements of Chapter 558.843
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the practicing state(s), preferred
  • CPR certification required
  • Ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Good customer relations skills and a commitment to quality service
  • Supportive of the core values and goals of the agency
  • Valid driver’s license, auto liability insurance, and reliable transportation; 100% travel may be required
Educational Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED; completion of a Medicare and State-approved Hospice Aide training and competency course
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
  • Work indoors in agency offices and patient homes, with travel involved
  • Requires physical effort, including lifting up to 100 pounds, kneeling, squatting, reaching, twisting, and walking
  • Must have sight/hearing or adaptive devices, and provide evidence of annual TB test and other required examinations
  • Exposure to elements, odors, blood, body fluids, and hazardous materials
