Job summary

First Call Hospice & Palliative Care is seeking a compassionate Hospice Aide to join our team. You will assist patients with personal care, meals, mobility, and routine observations under the supervision of a registered nurse to promote comfort and dignity in the final stages of life.

We provide extensive orientation, full-time benefits with 100% medical coverage, 401K with profit sharing, and opportunities for ongoing training.

Qualifications

  • Active Home Health Aide certification.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Understand hospice philosophy and provide specialized end-of-life care.
  • Empathy for the needs of the ill and frail.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Licensed driver with insured vehicle.
  • Covid-19 Vaccine Required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform personal care tasks and attend to patient requests promptly.
  • Ensure safety and proper use of equipment.
  • Assist with baths, grooming, oral hygiene, and linen changes.
  • Assist in dressing and undressing as assigned.
  • Plan and prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding.
  • Monitor vital signs as ordered and document observations.
  • Provide skin care to prevent tissue breakdown.
  • Assist with ambulation and exercises as instructed.
  • Assist with bedpans and urinals.
  • Assist with light laundry and keeping living area clean.
  • Adhere to documentation and care procedures.

First Call Hospice is growing and looking for experienced, compassionate Hospice Aide to join our team! Pay Range: $22 - $28 per hour Job Type: Full Time

Job Description The Hospice Aide is a paraprofessional member of the interdisciplinary group who works under the supervision of a registered nurse and performs various services for a patient as necessary to meet the patient's personal needs and to promote comfort.

The Hospice Aide is responsible for observing the patient, reporting these observations and documenting observations and care performed.

Responsibilities
  • Performing personal care needs after given a patient's assignment and attending to his/her requests promptly.
  • Meeting safety needs of patient and using equipment safely and properly (foot stools, side rails, O2 etc.)
  • Giving personal care including baths, back rubs, oral hygiene, shampoos and changing bed linen as often as assigned.
  • Assisting in dressing and undressing patients as assigned.
  • Planning and preparing nutritious meals, including shopping, as assigned.
  • Assisting in feeding the patient as assigned.
  • Taking and recording oral, rectal and axillary temperatures, pulse, respiration and blood pressure when ordered with appropriate completed/demonstrated skills competency.
  • Providing proper care and observation of patient's skin to prevent breakdown of tissue over bony prominence.
  • Assisting in ambulation and exercise as instructed by the hospice nurse or therapist.
  • Offering and assisting with bedpans and urinals.
  • Providing assistance as assigned with light laundry needs.
  • Keeping patient's living area clean and orderly, as assigned.
  • Adhering to the organization's documentation and care procedures and standards of personal and professional conduct.
Requirements
  • Active Home Health Aide certification
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Understand hospice philosophy, comfortable providing specialized care to the terminally ill.
  • Has empathy for the needs of the ill, injured, frail and the impaired.
  • Possess and maintains current CPR certification
  • Licensed driver with automobile that is insured in accordance with organization requirements and is in good working order.
  • Covid-19 Vaccine Required.
