UCSF Health in South San Francisco is seeking a Unit Service Coordinator to serve as the central communication hub on a busy patient care unit. Under supervision, you will support nursing staff, coordinate scheduling and patient flow, and handle administrative tasks that contribute to high quality patient care and service.

You should have strong interpersonal skills, experience with Epic EMR, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast paced environment.

Job Description

The Unit Service Coordinator (USC), under direction of the Patient Care Unit Manger, Nursing Supervisor or Charge Nurse, functions as the focal communications source within the patient care unit and performs administrative functions directed toward positive patient care outcomes.

The Unit Service Coordinator (USC), under direction of the Patient Care Unit Manger, Nursing Supervisor or Charge Nurse, functions as the focal communications source within the patient care unit and performs administrative functions directed toward positive patient care outcomes. All patient care team members are responsible to meet patient needs, demonstrate willingness to learn new skills, and foster a harmonious work environment in which high quality patient care and customer service is consistently provided. Team members promote a cooperative working relationship with each other, physicians, other disciplines and the public by facilitating and enhancing communication, displaying honesty and respect, displaying sensitivity to cultural differences, and expressing and accepting feedback in a professional manner.

Qualifications
Required Skills (II & III level)
  • Ability to work in a busy, team-oriented environment.

  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic computations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).

  • Ability to satisfactorily perform job duties as defined in the job description.
  • Proficiency with Epic EMR and experience with scheduling/ booking surgical procedures.
  • Previous experience in healthcare or hospital setting as unit secretary, or hospital coordinator experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of perioperative terminology and surgical specialties preferred.
Required Skills (III Level Only)
  • Experience in a health care setting.
  • Previous database/data entry experience.
  • Medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excell)
  • Data entry with high accuracy
  • Ability to prioritize urgent and emergent communications.
  • Coordinating transportation and support services
  • OR charge nurse and front desk support
  • Excellent customer service for patients, surgeons, anesthesia staff, surgical staff and vendors
Preferred Preferred Skills (II & III level)
  • Ability to use office equipment.
