Job summary

Fresno's Chaffee Zoo Corporation (FCZC) in Fresno, CA seeks an Entry-level Horticulturist to maintain landscaped areas, gardens, and exhibits and to work with staff, contractors, and the public to support the Zoo's mission.

The role involves operating gardening equipment, soil prep, irrigation support, and regular outdoor work; requires 1+ year landscaping experience, valid CA driver's license, and strict PPE rules.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of paid landscaping experience.
• Experience operating commercial horticultural equipment safely.
• Ability to follow PPE and safety rules.
• Vegetation management experience preferred or 18 course units in horticulture/plant science.
• Valid California driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the health and appearance of landscaped areas, gardens, exhibits, and plant collections.
• Plant, transplant, prune, cultivate, and maintain trees and shrubs as directed.
• Prepare soil, mulch, grading, and install landscape materials.
