Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin's Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center is seeking a Horticulturist to assist the horticulture team with daily operations, living collections maintenance, and garden design. You will rake, weed, prune, irrigate, and manage plant signage while collaborating with multiple teams.

You will also lead volunteers, support public engagements and events, ensure safety standards, and contribute to IPM practices. A Bachelor's degree and 3+ years in horticulture are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in horticulture or related field; 3+ years horticultural experience.
  • Experience with tools and equipment related to horticultural activities.
  • Strong communication and guest services skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist daily operations and maintenance of living collections and grounds.
  • Design, install, and maintain assigned garden areas.
  • Manage IPM and safe use of tools and equipment.
  • Update plant identification signage and document plant species.
  • Assist the public and coordinate with staff; provide guest services.
  • Oversee irrigation inspection and repair; support events and education.
  • Train and supervise volunteers and interns.
