Job summary

Spring Meadow Nursery, Inc. in Grand Haven, MI is seeking a Production Intern for the 2027 season. Interns will rotate through propagation, growing, and Stock/R&D with exposure to Shipping, Marketing, and Breeding.

Responsibilities include data collection, inventory tracking, and assisting managers across production phases. The role emphasizes hands-on experience in greenhouse production, IPM planning, and daily record-keeping, with the chance to gain a well-rounded view of the full production

Qualifications

• Pursuing an Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a plant science-related field or have 1-2 years of related work experience.
• Proficient in NAV inventory tracking and Microsoft Excel & Word.
• Bilingual English-Spanish is highly desirable.
• Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Involvement in the Spring Meadow IPM program across all three main production departments.
• Perform weekly scouting of crops to monitor for pests or diseases.
• Evaluate pest-tracking tools such as yellow sticky cards and pheromone traps.
• Organize and mix biological organisms that arrive on a weekly basis.
• Apply biological organisms to predetermined target sites.
• Use of dissecting microscopes to scout for pests and other seasonal pests.
• Maintain and update physical inventory of plant liners/trays/pots across departments.
• Monitor liner and container soil water levels during extended periods of high temperatures.
• Perform analytical tests such as soil sampling for pH and EC levels, chlorine concentration, and saturation tests.
• Collect plant tissue samples for analysis at off-site labs.
• Track movement and survival rate of plants between departments.
• Assist in daily record keeping of greenhouse crew labor hours and activity rates.
