Job summary

Louisiana State University is seeking a Horticultural Attendant - Leader to supervise a crew of grounds workers in maintaining LSU Baton Rouge campus landscapes and off-site properties. The role involves working in varying weather, lifting up to 50 pounds, and weekend or after-hours duties as needed.

The position requires at least two years of groundskeeping experience or two years of related training, plus formal plant science hours, and a valid Louisiana driver's license.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience or training in farming, care of trees/shrubs, or groundskeeping.
• Twelve semester hours in a plant science or landscape field of study.

Responsibilities

• Directs a crew of grounds workers and contractors to maintain campus grounds safely and neatly.
• Operates or directs others on power riding tractors and mowers (usually under 25HP) and manages entrances, perimeters and roadside areas.
• Directs or assists with irrigation work, digging, grading and drain basin cleaning as needed.
• Fills in for a Horticulture Attendant Foreman, directing 2+ crews and completing time sheets and paperwork.
• Performs other related tasks as required.
