Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and college units or higher degree as required.
• One year of paid experience in horticulture.
• Ability to communicate in a language other than English may be required.

Responsibilities

• Assist a teacher by reinforcing subject matter through horticulture activities.
• Present topics such as plant reproduction, botany, soils, and soil conservation to students.
• Locate and prepare exhibits, demonstrations, equipment, and materials for horticulture lessons.
• Demonstrate methods, procedures, and uses of horticultural tools and equipment.
• Arrange and conduct educational visits related to horticulture activities.
• Tutor individuals or groups in horticulture-related subjects.
• Review student work to develop skills in plant propagation, pest control, and nursery operations.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
