Job summary

The LSU AgCenter is seeking an Assistant/Associate/Extension Agent (Horticulture) domiciled in Sabine Parish, Louisiana. The role focuses on delivering research-based horticulture programs, coordinating advisory groups, and building community partnerships through on-farm visits, workshops, and demonstrations.

The incumbent will work under supervision with regional and parish leadership, travel overnight as needed, and contribute to youth livestock programming and pesticide trainings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with GPA >= 2.5; graduate GPA >= 3.0 or master’s GPA >= 3.0 on 12 graduate hours.
• Master’s degree in a listed field is desired.
• Experience in recruiting, training and supervising volunteers is desirable.
• Strong oral and written communication skills are essential.
• Ability to work with others and function with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Develop horticulture extension programming for Sabine Parish.
• Establish advisory committees to identify client needs and evaluate programs.
• Deliver information through on-farm visits, workshops, field days and other meetings.
• Provide pesticide certification training and youth livestock programming support.
• Collaborate with parish/regional/state faculty and engage with local agricultural groups.
