Qualifications

• One-year apprenticeship requiring living onsite with other seasonal staff.
• Basic knowledge in horsemanship theory and riding skills.
• Strong safety awareness and ability to manage risk.
• Professional in behavior, language and attitude; set high standards for others.
• Able to safely catch, halter, lead, tie, groom and tack horses.
• Able to ride walk, trot/jog, and canter/lope in arenas and open spaces.
• General familiarity with anatomy, physiology, psychology, balance, coordination and motion for rider progress.
• Basic knowledge of equine anatomy and physiology to assist in feeding, health care and maintenance of horses.

Responsibilities

• Support herd management and horsemanship activities.
• Contribute to Horse Camps, trail rides, summer horsemanship, pony rides and riding classes across both sites.
• Create an engaging environment for guests and campers to learn from horses with safety in mind.
• Perform heavy manual labor as part of daily duties.
