Job summary

Wenzel Industries in Wisconsin is seeking Horizontal Mill Operators who take pride in quality craftsmanship and reliability. Operate CNC horizontal milling centers to produce precise, in-tolerance components, load parts, read blueprints, and perform first-piece to final inspections.

Qualifications

  • 1-2+ years CNC machining or manufacturing experience preferred; training provided for motivated candidates.
  • Knowledge of tooling, work-holding, offsets, and machining principles related to horizontal milling operations.
  • Ability to inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and other precision measuring equipment.
  • Solid understanding of measurement tools, process control, and print reading.
  • Strong attention to detail, safety, and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and load parts across multiple CNC work centers, including CNC horizontal milling machines, to produce precise, in-tolerance components.
  • Operate horizontal machining centers (HMCs), including tool loading and work offset verification.
  • Deburr and wash parts as needed.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, CNC coordinates, and offsets.
  • Perform first piece, in-process and final inspections using gauges and precision measuring tools.
  • Monitor machining operations and make tool wear and offset adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy and surface finish requirements.
  • Change tooling, replace inserts, and troubleshoot machining issues to minimize downtime and maintain production schedules.
  • Verify part quality against engineering specifications and document inspection results.
  • Conduct required preventive maintenance and maintain a clean, safe work area.
  • Accurately record production data and maintain consistent throughput.
  • Operate cranes to load parts. Routinely lift parts up to 30 lbs.
