Job Responsibilities

Plan and deliver educational instruction to diverse learners, including those with special needs, aligning with state and district standards. Create a safe, engaging learning environment promoting academic success, physical fitness, and life skills for global citizenship. Work independently under moderate supervision, applying foundational knowledge effectively.

Essential Job Duties
  • Teach grade-relevant, subject-specific, and mandated curriculum
  • Develop and implement lesson plans and activities through in-person and virtual learning, with documented evidence of preparation
  • Communicate via phone, email, or video conferencing with district personnel, students, and parents
  • Create conducive classroom environments for learning and development
  • Use internet and web-based technology for instruction and collaboration
  • Assess, document, and report student progress, performance, assessments, and attendance
  • Supervise and manage student behavior per the Student Code of Conduct and handbook
  • Participate in conferences with parents, students, counselors, teachers, and administrators as required
  • Perform general instructional duties, including ordering materials and attending meetings and training
  • Supervise paraprofessionals or instructional aides as needed
  • Maintain punctual and regular attendance
Additional Requirements for Special Education Teachers
  • Identify educational needs and instruct students with varying exceptionalities
  • Implement IEPs, assess and monitor progress, and communicate with families
  • Serve as case manager for students with disabilities, maintaining relevant documentation and facilitating IEP meetings
  • Adhere to Georgia educator ethics
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution approved by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission
  • Valid teaching certificate in the relevant educational field
Additional Certifications
  • Special Education teachers must hold appropriate certification in service areas like Special Education, Adaptive Curriculum, or General Curriculum, aligned with their teaching assignment
  • Endorsements in ESOL & Gifted Education are required
  • For CTAE positions: minimum education and industry experience, plus passing the GACE Education Ethics Assessment
