Job Responsibilities
  • Teach grade-relevant, subject-specific, and mandated curriculum.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans for in-person and virtual learning, demonstrating preparation.
  • Communicate with district personnel, students, and parents via phone, email, or video conferencing.
  • Create a conducive learning environment for physical, social, and emotional development.
  • Use internet and web-based technology for instruction and collaboration.
  • Assess and document student progress, prepare reports on achievement, grades, and attendance.
  • Manage student behavior according to the Student Code of Conduct.
  • Participate in conferences with parents, students, counselors, and administrators.
  • Perform general instructional duties, including ordering materials and attending meetings and training.
  • Supervise paraprofessionals or instructional aides as needed.
  • Maintain prompt and regular attendance.
Additional Requirements for Special Education Teachers
  • Identify educational needs and instruct students with varying exceptionalities.
  • Follow IEPs, assess progress, and communicate with families.
  • Serve as case manager for students with disabilities, maintaining relevant documentation.
  • Adhere to educator ethics.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university approved by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission.
  • Valid teaching certificate in the relevant educational field.
Special Certifications
  • Special Education teachers must hold appropriate certification in service areas such as Special Education or Adaptive Curriculum.
  • Endorsements in ESOL & Gifted required.
  • For Career Technical and Agricultural Education (CTAE): minimum education based on specialization, pass GACE Ethics Assessment, and have verifiable industrial work experience or licensure.
