Job summary

Martinrea International Inc. is seeking a press operator to operate a variety of presses, including positioning, aligning and bolting dies to ram and anvil, and verifying machine setup and documentation. The role demands English literacy, 1–5 years of related experience, and strong problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities include pre-staging materials, using gauges for quality, and coordinating die setups. Lifting and crane operation on a 100% plant floor, with standard safety policies in place.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must read, write and comprehend English.
• Strong communication in English, both written and oral.
• Must have transfer and/or progressive press experience.
• 1–2 years in similar position or 3–5 years in manufacturing environment.
• Experience in press shop; preference for candidates with technical background.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Pre-stage materials, tools and equipment required for the next production run.
• Use gauges to ensure quality product.
• Position, align and bolt dies to ram and anvil, and check machine set-up.
• Periodic adjustments to job setup may be required.
• Adjust shut-heights and cushion pressure on dies and set progress on feeders.
• Ensure that only quality parts are passed onto the next operation; notify supervisor of quality related problems immediately.
• Complete all necessary documentation (production reports, quality alerts, etc.) correctly and in a timely manner.
• Responsible for tools or equipment assigned to perform duties.
• Communicate any equipment or safety concern to the Supervisor.
• Operate Lift Truck and Crane safely.
• Start, operate and shut off all presses or equipment per Martinrea's safety policy.
• Coordinate setup of dies and experience with metal stamping equipment, feeders, uncoilers, control panels, lube systems, automatic presses, tandem lines, cranes and lift trucks.
• Must be able to perform minor repairs (adjust grippers, cut and re-align steel).
• Abide by all Company policies including health and Safety, Quality and Environmental Systems, HR policies, and Martinrea Employee Handbook.

Knowledge And Skills (Education)

• High School Diploma or past work experience deemed to be comparable

Decision Making And Authority

• Instruct Press Catchers and Press Set-up as to proper methods and safety when operating any equipment
• Co-ordinate changeover with production operators

Working Conditions

• 100% plant floor (PPE required)
• This position is physically demanding and must be able to lift more than 25lbs

• Perform other duties as required

Salary: $21.70 - $27.49 per hour
