Job summary

Dallas Zoo Management seeks an entry-level animal care team member to follow established protocols, assist with feeding, exhibit maintenance, enrichment, and educational tours. You will provide daily care and help maintain exhibits while engaging guests through education sessions.

Outdoor work in varying weather is required. A biology degree and AZA experience are preferred; willingness to learn, lift up to 50 lbs, and pass background checks are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in biology or related science preferred.
• Experience with exotic animal care at an AZA facility preferred.
• Flexible, efficient team player with a solution‑oriented mindset.
• Basic knowledge of research techniques and strong observation skills.
• Willing to learn safe capture and restraint methods for various taxa.
• Effective written and oral communication with all stakeholders.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in varying weather.
• Available to work holidays and weekends as needed.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen, background check, and TB test.

• Provide daily care, including feeding, cleaning, enrichment.
• Monitor animal health and behavior and report concerns.
• Prepare records and assist in research as needed.
• Assist in transfers and exhibit maintenance.
