Job summary

Summit Fire & Security is seeking a Hood Technician to assist in cleaning grease from commercial kitchen exhaust systems and supervise crew activities. The role requires after-hours work, responsibility for inspections, paperwork, and equipment upkeep, with interaction with restaurant staff.

Strong English communication and safety awareness are essential. Ideal candidates have a HS Diploma and leadership experience, plus the ability to use hand and power tools and work with ladders and chemicals

JOB SUMMARY:

The purpose of the Hood Technician position is to assist and be responsible for cleaning the grease off the cooking exhaust systems of commercial kitchens and supervisory functions relating to crews.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

• Work after hours once facilities are closed, in and outside
• Often work alone with a helper and must be able to interact professionally with restaurant management and staff and be honest and trustworthy
• Inspections, clean up and some maintenance
• Taking photos of work
• Driving to and from job to shop
• Filling out paperwork
• Keeping truck and machine in working condition
• Cleaning kitchen exhaust systems including fans
• Roof, filters, working safely with ladders and chemicals
• Getting to per-scheduled appointments on time
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Training, Certifications:

• HS Diploma or equivalent, required.

Experience, Knowledge, Skill Requirements:

Other Qualifications:

• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record required.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to bend, ascend and descend step stools, ladders and stairs, kneel, lift <60lbs, reach above and below shoulders, stand and walk for extended periods of time. Employee is required to see in color, close and far distances, peripheral, depth, and adjust focus. Employee will occasional be required to balance, crouch, drive, kneel, lift >60lbs, sit, stoop, twist, and work at heights.

Work Environment:

Employees will regularly be required to work outside, and be exposed to hot/cold temperatures, dust, fumes, chemicals, electrical hazards and noise. Employee will occasionally be required to work indoors in an office setting, work alone and with others. Employee must consistently wear all appropriate personal protective equipment, as required by company safety policies while visiting locations.
