Job summary

YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth is seeking an energetic Lifeguard to protect pool patrons and maintain a safe aquatic environment. You will monitor the pool, enforce safety rules, and respond quickly to emergencies according to YMCA policies.

This role requires certifications (YMCA Lifeguard, ASHI Life Support, First Aid) and the ability to stay alert, test chemicals, perform inspections, and collaborate with staff to provide excellent service to members.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 16.
• Certifications: YMCA Lifeguard, ASHI Basic Life Support (ASHI CPR Pro), Basic First Aid and Emergency Oxygen.
• Maintain certification readiness and lifeguard skills per YMCA standards.

Responsibilities

• Maintains active surveillance of the pool area.
• Adheres to emergency procedures and responds immediately per YMCA policies.
• Maintains positive relationships with members and staff.
• Applies safety rules and maintains records as required by YMCA/Health Dept.
• Performs equipment checks and chemical testing as needed.

YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth Employment Application

As a YMCA Lifeguard, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of all pool patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies. You will maintain a safe and clean aquatic environment and provide exceptional service to all members and guests

Essential Functions

• Maintains active surveillance of the pool area.


• Knows/reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies, procedures, and the “safe-in-six” model. Completes related reports as required.


• Maintains effective, positive relationships with the members, participants and other staff.


• Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area. Maintains accurate records as required by the YMCA and/or the state Health Department code.


• Performs equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available as needed.


• Checks the pool for hazardous conditions when arriving.


• Performs chemical testing when not guarding, as required, and takes appropriate action.


• Attends all staff meetings and in-service training.


• Performs other duties as assigned.
