Job summary

Florida International University is seeking an experienced academic advisor for the Honors College at the Modesto A. Maidique Campus.

You will manage a caseload of undergraduate students using high-tech and high-touch approaches to support timely graduation and retention efforts. Responsibilities include advising on policies and options, guiding students at events, and coordinating with faculty and campus partners to provide engaging opportunities and targeted outreach for improved graduation

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and two years in academic advising or student services within higher education; OR a Master's degree.

Responsibilities

• Responds to student messages, inquiries and requests in a timely manner (within 2 business days).
• Provides academic advising and guidance to prospective FIU students and current students exploring changes of major.
• Educates advisees on resources and tools (Career and Talent Development, Center for Academic Success, PDA, Major Maps, EAB, Handshake).
• Provides general career advising to students to plan employment or further education and coordinate readiness initiatives with campus partners.
