Honickman FT Sterile Processing Technician

Job Description

The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for supporting the operating rooms and other units by managing surgical supplies, instruments, scopes, and equipment. Responsibilities include inventory, decontamination, assembly, inspection, packaging, sterilization, storage, and distribution of sterile items in a safe and timely manner. The role may support hospital practices, clinics, and other locations. Candidates must be able to perform all standard sterile processing tasks and may be assigned additional duties as needed.

Must have CRCST certification. Full-time position at Honickman SPD.

Essential Functions
  • Interact professionally with co-workers, visitors, and staff, embodying Jefferson’s values.
  • Provide respectful, compassionate, and coordinated care respecting patient preferences, needs, and cultural beliefs.
  • Communicate effectively with the interprofessional team, patients, families, and care partners.
  • Disassemble, clean, inspect, assemble, sterilize, and dispense surgical instruments and trays per manufacturer instructions and aseptic techniques.
  • Prepare procedural case carts as per campus requirements.
  • Operate washers, sterilizers, and ultrasonic equipment following safety protocols.
  • Test instruments for integrity and cleanliness before sterilization or disinfection.
  • Verify sterilization quality indicators.
  • Report equipment issues to SPD leadership.
  • Use Instrument Tracking System for inventory and documentation.
  • Label items accurately, monitor for outdates and package integrity, and report issues.
  • Maintain and distribute medical equipment, including code carts, as required.
  • Participate in onboarding new team members.
Competencies

Knowledge of patient-centered care, cultural awareness, and effective communication skills.

Work Shift

Day shift, full-time, regular schedule.
