Job summary

Fusion Academy in Alexandria, VA is seeking a HomeworkCafé Teacher to support students in our homework hubs and social spaces. This 1-to-1 private school serves grades 4–12 and emphasizes personalized education, socially and emotionally as well as academically.

You will monitor student progress, communicate with teachers and parents, mentor learners, and help create a positive campus culture while maintaining organized records and pursuing ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; advanced degrees or teaching credential is a plus.
• Ability to support students with diverse assignments and needs.
• Experience with learners who have differences, neurodiversity, or mental health challenges.
• Strong mentoring, communication, and interpersonal skills.

As HomeworkCafé® Teacher, you’ll support students in our homework hubs and social spaces. Our diverse team of lifelong learners shares a mission to personalize education for every student — academically, socially, and emotionally. Please note: Not all campuses serve grades 4 and 5, and specific details will be shared during the interview process.

What You’ll Do:

• Monitor and help students’ progress in completion of homework and with executive functioning skills.
• Communicate with teachers and parents on student progress.
• Promote a positive social environment for students.

What We’re Looking For:

• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degrees or a teaching credential is a plus.
• Ability and willingness to support students with a wide range of assignments.
• Experience working with students, including those with learning differences, neurodiversity, accelerated learning needs, and/or mental health challenges.
• Mentoring experience and a passion for social-emotional learning.
• Skilled with technology, curious about innovation, and open to learning new tools.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to function in a high-paced environment, be calm and open for feedback, as well as a self-starter.
• Ability to build rapport with students while maintaining authority, boundaries, and discipline.
• Must maintain a clean and organized milieu space for students to learn.
• A growth mindset with the flexibility to pivot and problem-solve as needed.

Pay Range USD $27.30 - USD $27.30 /Hr.
