HOMEMAKER

GRADE: 5 REPORTS TO: PCA Supervisor/Home Care Coordinator

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Must be at least 18 years or older, able to read, write, and understand English for task performance, be physically capable of performing required tasks, have a valid Social Security number, driver’s license, and own transportation. Must be medically cleared of communicable disease, pass a drug test, and undergo a criminal background check. Graduation from high school or equivalency is preferred. Preferred training or experience in homemaking, and one year of experience with the elderly or disabled.

SUMMARY

Provides services designed to assist eligible individuals with basic homemaking activities such as cleaning of main living areas, laundry, purchasing and storing groceries, preparing meals, trash disposal, and assisting with mail. May also assist with health-related services to provide stand‑by assistance to clients. The Homemaker may be required to provide necessary services as authorized by the PACE Interdisciplinary Team (IDT). Use of therapeutic interpersonal skills in all contacts in the work setting is required. Problems encountered range from routine to complex in nature; significant public contact is required, and the position requires independent decision‑making and action.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Performs housework such as cleaning main living areas by dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, emptying trashcans, doing laundry, sanitizing DME, etc.
  2. Assists with personal hygiene to steady the client in and out of the tub/shower or to set up bath, hygiene items, or clothing.
  3. Purchases groceries and puts them away.
  4. Prepares and serves meals, not including menu planning for special diets.
  5. Monitors and reports participants' functional status to the PACE Interdisciplinary Team (IDT).
  6. Maintain strict confidentiality in all matters about the recipient and program operations.
  7. Report health or safety concerns, such as communicable diseases or infestations.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  1. Must be physically able to perform duties and safely lift 20-40 lbs unassisted.
  2. Ability to follow exactly oral or written instructions.
  3. Knowledge of sanitation principles.
  4. Ability to understand and carry out oral instructions without close or constant supervision.
  5. Must possess good interpersonal skills.
  6. Must obey all rules and regulations of AASC Personnel Policy/PACE Program.
  7. Provide own transportation to and from client appointments.
  8. Must be accessible by phone and possess a cellular phone or other device capable of making and receiving phone calls, emails, and recording worked time, and production of client records.
