HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

All LCSNW team members will contribute to our mission of partnering with individuals, families and communities for health,justiceand hope. The Outreach Home Visitor/Parent Educator provides parenting education, family support, therapeutic classroom programming, and community outreach services to increase awareness of A Family Place programs and promote healthy child development, positive parent-child relationships, and family well-being. This bilingual (English/Spanish) position delivers intensive home visiting services to highly stressed families, coordinates andfacilitatescommunity-based parenting education groups, andassistsfamilies in accessing resources and support services. The role serves as a liaison between AFamily Place programsand the community, increasing awareness, engagement, and access to available services. In addition, this position co-leads regular respite opportunities for families in the early childhood therapeutic classroom, provides oversight and support to childcare staff and volunteers during parent education programming, and collaborates with internal and external partners to strengthen outcomes for children and families.This position is full-time for37.5hoursperweekwhich requires the ability to work some evening hours.

  • Work cooperatively with staff, interns, volunteers, and community partners to support the mission of keeping children safe and families together.
  • Establish andmaintainpositive communication with parents, modelingappropriate interactionswith others.
  • Maintain open, positive communication and promote individual/group problem-solving skills with children, families, co-workers, and the community.
  • Conduct outreach and family engagement initiatives to increase community awareness of A Family Place programs, increase family enrollment, and strengthen community partnerships. Including but not limited to:
  • Co-lead community tabling events
  • Cultivate and manage positive relationships with internal and external partnerships to increase family referrals for A Family Place services
  • Complete and document regular home visits based on a schedule mutually agreed upon by each family and the Home Visitor, in coordination with the supervisor.
  • Maintain ahome visitingcaseload of8-14families.
  • Utilize the Growing Great Kids/Growing Great Families curriculum to engage families in parent-child activities,facilitatepositive attachment, and promote infant mental health.
  • Assess children’s developmental progress using evidence-basedmeasures, andaccurately document this data.
  • Assistfamilies toidentifyand achieve parenting, personal, and child goals
  • Ensure that proper and current documentation is complete on each family (including the release of information, data on allergies and medical conditions, release and emergency contact information, and other pertinent data).
  • Provide referrals to necessary communityresources, andadvocate for the family’s needs and interests.
  • Serve asco-lead staff in providing regular planned respite for familiesat all AFP Relief Nurserysites.

Parent Education:

  • Prepare andfacilitateparenting education groups using approved curriculum and promote active family engagement.
  • Coordinatelogisticsfor parent education sessions, including registration, materials, food/snacks, and communication with families.

HOW YOU WILL BE A GREAT FIT:

  • The ability to read, write, and speak fluently in both English and Spanish isrequired
  • Experience in working with or providing services to children and families
  • Experience and humility to work with culturally diverse families and colleagues
  • Ability to relate to diverse at-risk children and families with sensitivity and respect,identifyandrecord significant individual and group behaviorsand conduct objective assessments and evaluation, and to learn and apply Therapeutic Principles
  • Knowledge ofinfant and child development,adverseand positivechildhood experiences, family systems, trauma-informed care, mental health issues, and disabilities
  • Step 9 or higher in Oregon Registry Onlinerequired(Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Education, Special Education, Psychology, Social Work, or another related field).
  • Exceptions may be made in conjunction with a Professional Development Plan.
  • Ability to obtain current clearance from the
  • Standard LCSNW criminal clearance, including national sex offender. Motor vehicle records, valid driver’slicenseand auto insurance arerequired.
