- Originate residential mortgage loans through solicitation and relationship development with real estate professionals, builders, internal partners, and business referral sources
- Conduct outside sales and originate self-generated residential mortgages
- Develop and execute business development and marketing plans based on monthly and quarterly production standards
- Interview prospective borrowers to analyze financial and credit data and determine financing objectives
- Advise customers on mortgage products, pricing policies, and guidelines
- Gather required information and documentation to complete accurate disclosures and loan files
- Analyze available mortgage products based on customer information
- Provide exceptional customer service while maintaining knowledge of lending programs, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Obtain appraisals, title reports, financial information, credit reports, and other required documentation
- Maintain responsibility for loan files through processing, underwriting, closing, funding, and post-closing
- Explain the advantages of the company and its financial products to customers and associates
- Complete annual BVS courses and system-related training
- Maintain compliance with bank regulations, policies, procedures, and applicable laws
- Maintain working knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act, Regulation CC, Regulation E, Bank Security, and other applicable regulations
- May coach, mentor, train others, or teach coursework as a subject matter expert
- Foster Columbia's corporate culture and support the vision to become “Business Bank of Choice”
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- H.S. Diploma/GED, vocational training, or equivalent (preferred)
- Bachelor's Degree in business, finance, or equivalent (preferred)
- 2 years of previous mortgage self-generated origination/sales and structuring experience (Required)
- Demonstrated knowledge of the home lending industry, including loan processing, underwriting, closing, and funding
- Experience collecting and analyzing borrower income
- Negotiating skills
- Ability to develop new and sustainable referral sources and generate leads
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to organize, prioritize, manage, and perform multiple tasks
- Detail-oriented and able to meet strict deadlines
- Ability to work effectively with individuals and groups across the company to manage internal and external customer relationships
- Proficiency with personal computers and software such as Word and Excel
- Must be registered as an MLO under S.A.F.E. Act requirements
- Must comply with Bank MLO and Bank Closed-End MLO requirements under applicable regulations
