Job summary

HouseMaster Home Inspections Serving Texas Hill Country is seeking professional home inspectors to join our growing national team. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, articulate, outgoing, personable, and follows our standard process to deliver accurate inspections and thorough reports.

Responsibilities include traveling to sites, reviewing plans for building codes, inspecting plumbing and electrical for violations, documenting findings with photos, and communicating clearly with clients.

Qualifications

  • Experience in construction, real estate, or home repair.
  • Strong knowledge of building codes and regulations.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs and climb ladders, walk roofs, crawl spaces and attics.

  • Travel to home inspection sites.
  • Suggest possible improvements and discuss potential code violations.
  • Review plans to ensure they meet building codes and local ordinances.
  • Inspect plumbing and electrical for code violations and issue violation notices.
  • Keep daily logs, write up reports, and take photographs.

Position Summary

The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, articulate, outgoing, personable, and presentable, and follows our standard process to complete an accurate, thorough quality home inspection and detailed report.

Role and Responsibilities

The inspector is required to have a basic knowledge of residential home systems and elements. The role involves working in various weather conditions, climbing ladders, walking on roofs, accessing crawl spaces and attics, and standing for long periods of time. Solid computer technology skills are necessary for report writing and communications. The ideal candidate stays current on the latest company initiatives, policies, and procedures, while continually developing advanced technical knowledge in building science. Punctuality, the ability to work independently, and a strong work ethic are also required. Salary is based on experience and qualifications.

Qualifications and Requirements
  • 2+ years of construction, real estate, or home repair experience
  • Strong understanding of building codes, laws, and government regulations
  • Degree in construction preferred
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and a positive attitude
  • Physically fit for climbing ladders, walking on roofs, accessing crawl spaces and attics, and standing for long periods of time
  • Able to lift 50 lbs
  • May be required to enter homes that contain allergens such as pets, dust, mold, or other substances
