Position Overview

The Speech Therapist is responsible for delivering quality patient care according to individual physician orders. Responsibilities include assessments, administering prescribed treatments and therapies, care planning, communication with multidisciplinary team members, supply management, emergency management, coordination of care, health promotion, and family education and training.

Territory: Middle to southern Brevard County

Essential Job Functions

1. Provide Speech Therapy services as prescribed by the physician.
2. Follow policies and procedures, conforming to all applicable patient care standards, licensure regulations, and state laws.
3. Provide a written evaluation defining Speech Therapy needs, goals, and expected outcomes in conjunction with the referring physician's Plan of Treatment.
4. Develop and maintain a written Plan of Care for Speech Therapy goals and outcomes.
5. Maintain the plan of care for assigned patients according to Speech Therapy goals and outcomes.
6. Participate in coordination of services, including discharge planning, with healthcare team members, physicians, parents/guardians, and nurses.
7. Maintain patient and company confidentiality.
8. Ensure effective communication among staff, healthcare team members, and family.
9. Serve as a resource and clinical consultant for staff.
10. Provide physicians and Aveanna with written evaluations of patient needs, goals, and progress.

Requirements

1. Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an ASHA-accredited institution.
2. Current and unrestricted SLP license in the state of practice.
3. Current CPR certification.
4. At least one (1) year of recent experience as a Speech-Language Pathologist in an acute care setting.
