Responsibilities

• Provides services within the scope of practice as defined by state laws governing speech therapy, in accordance with the plan of care, and in coordination with other health care team members.
• Evaluates patient function and assists in development of therapy plan of care.
• Treats patients to improve communication according to patient condition and standards of practice.
• Observes, records, and reports patient responses to treatment and changes in condition to supervisor/physician.
• Instructs patient, family and caregiver in speech therapy areas to participate.
