Job summary

Kona Medical Consulting is seeking a Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) with home health experience to join our Home Health team across locations in Texas. The PTA will work under a licensed Physical Therapist to support mobility, pain reduction, and patient quality of life through treatment plans.

Responsibilities include guiding exercises, monitoring progress, documenting outcomes, and educating patients and families for at-home care.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in PTA program (accredited) required.
• Home health experience required.
• Licensure or state certification as required by the state of employment.
• Familiarity with therapy equipment and techniques.
• Strong communication, empathy and patience when working with patients.

Responsibilities

• Assist in carrying out physical therapy treatment plans as directed by the supervising Physical Therapist.
• Guide patients through therapeutic exercises, stretches, and mobility techniques.
• Use specialized equipment to aid in patient recovery and rehabilitation.
• Monitor and document patient progress during therapy sessions.
• Communicate with patients to ensure their comfort and understanding of therapy goals.
• Educate patients and families about at-home exercises and techniques for continued recovery.
• Prepare therapy rooms and equipment for patient use.
• Maintain a clean and safe therapy environment.
• Report any significant changes in a patient's condition to the supervising Physical Therapist.
• Record accurate notes on treatment provided and patient progress.
• Adhere to healthcare regulations, privacy standards (e.g., HIPAA), and safety protocols.
