Job summary

Midland Care Connection in Topeka, KS, seeks a Physical Therapy Intern to assist licensed therapists in geriatric home‑based rehabilitation. You will help with evaluations, exercises, balance training, and caregiver education to support independence at home.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited Physical Therapy program (DPT).
• Completion of foundational coursework in anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology.
• Ability to follow clinical instructions and work under supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with adults and teams.
• CPR/BLS certification (or ability to obtain before starting).
• Compliance with health screenings and background checks.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient evaluations, therapeutic exercises, balance and gait training, and fall prevention activities.
• Educate patients and caregivers on safe movement and home safety practices.
• Learn how treatment plans are developed and adjusted based on progress.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care.
• Document patient information and progress in electronic medical records.
• Communicate with patients, families, and team members during visits.
• Travel to patient homes and adapt treatment to home environments.
