JOB SUMMARY

Under general supervision, provides technical assistance in administering physical therapy treatments to patients. Responsible for delivering services in strict accordance with the plan of care developed by a licensed physical therapist.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Required

  • Education: Completion of a two-year program for Physical Therapist Assistants, meeting standards set by the American Physical Therapy Association.
  • Licenses and Certifications: BLS certification through the American Heart Association or Red Cross, valid Texas Driver’s License, proof of insurance, and PTA license upon hire.
JOB DUTIES
  • Implement physical therapy treatments as per the plan of care, including therapeutic exercises, gait training, ADL training, and modalities like heat, cold, ultrasound, and electrical stimulation.
  • Modify treatments based on patient needs and plan of care.
  • Obtain and adhere to the plan of care created by the PT.
  • Respond to acute changes in patient condition.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on treatment procedures.
  • Identify and report architectural barriers.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Practice safely, ethically, and legally.
  • Notify the supervising PT and Clinical Supervisor of patient condition changes.
  • Attend case conferences and coordinate patient visits.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
