Job summary

Transition Home Healthcare and Pathways Hospice is seeking an AR & Billing Specialist to manage reimbursement and accounts receivable processes onsite in Houston, TX. You will update patient accounts across EMR systems and ensure timely follow-up on outstanding bills.

The role requires at least one year of billing experience in home health or hospice, strong MS Office skills, and proficiency with HCHB EMR to support accurate and compliant billing practices.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year of billing, AR, and billing systems experience in home health or hospice.
• Knowledge of various insurance plans and ability to research issues.
• Experience with home health insurance authorization and appeals.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Experience with HCHB EMR.

Responsibilities

• Ensure reimbursement through efficient billing and collections operations and effective accounts receivable management.
• Update billing and patient account records in EMR systems timely and accurately.
• Work aged accounts receivable, resubmit bills on overdue accounts and escalate delinquent accounts.
• Gather, collate, and report key billing information to the Director of Revenue Cycle Management.
• Understand the billing information system and maintain knowledge of upgrades and enhancements.
• Establish and maintain positive working relationships with patients, families, payors, and referral sources.
• Maintain knowledge of insurance company and authorization requirements.
• Ensure payors billed according to contracts.
• Protect confidentiality of patient and organization information.
• Complete other tasks as designated by supervisor.

AR & Billing Specialist - (Home Health & Hospice)

Onsite - Houston, TX 77081

Responsibilities

• Ensure reimbursement through efficient billing and collections operations and effective accounts receivable management.
• Ensure billing and patient account records are updated in multiple EMR systems timely and accurately. Document all follow-up and necessary information in reference to the patient account.
• Work aged accounts receivables, resubmit bills on overdue accounts, and submit significantly delinquent accounts to supervisor for further collection.
• Gather, collate, and report key billing information to the Director of Revenue Cycle Management.
• Understand the billing information system and maintain comprehensive working knowledge including upgrades and enhancements.
• Establish and maintain positive working relationships with patients, family members, payors, and referral sources.
• Maintain comprehensive working knowledge of insurance company and authorization requirements.
• Has knowledge of payor contracts and ensures payors are billed according to contract provisions.
• Protect the confidentiality of patient and organization information through effective controls and direct supervision of billing operations.
• Complete other tasks as required and designated by supervisor and/or administrator.

Qualifications

• Minimum one (1) year of experience with billing processes, AR, prior authorizations, and billing systems in home health/hospice.
• Knowledge of different insurance and HMO plans and ability to research complex issues.
• Working knowledge of insurance(s) for home health, authorization, and appeals requirements.
• Proficient level experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Experience with HCHB EMR
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
