Job summary

Amedisys is seeking a CNA home health aide for PRN day shifts in Durham, NC. The role requires a CNA license and offers flexibility to support patients at home, with competitive pay and comprehensive benefits.

You will perform vital signs, assist with activities of daily living, meals, and light homemaking while ensuring a safe care environment and timely documentation of patient status.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Current state certification/registration as a nurse assistant is required.
• CNA experience within the last two years; if longer, complete additional training before providing services.
• Must pass the care center's competency program.
• Current CPR certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Take vitals: temperature, pulse, blood pressure and respiration.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy environment.
• Assist with bed mobility, bathing, hygiene, and toileting.
• Prepare and assist with meals.
• Perform light housekeeping and related tasks.
• Observe and report changes in patient status.
• Report changes in body functions as indicated.
• Recognize emergencies and follow procedures per policy.
• Follow infection control and safety procedures.
• Follow plan of care for personal care tasks.
• Assist with prescribed exercises as instructed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education

Responsibilities

• Obtains temperature, pulse, blood pressure and respiration.

• Assists patient with getting in and out of bed, bathing, hygiene, and toileting.

• Prepares and provides and/or assists with meals.

• Performs light homemaking and other environmental services.

• Observes, reports, and documents any changes in patient status.

• Understands basic elements of body functioning and reports changes in patient's body functions as indicated.

• Recognizes emergency situations and implements appropriate emergency procedures per care center policy.

• Follows care center procedures regarding infection prevention and control, handling of hazardous waste and safety measures.

• Follows specific written instructions for personal care in accordance with the plan of care.

• Assists patient with prescribed exercises as instructed per nurse or therapist.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current state certification (or registration) as a nurse assistant as per state certification/registration requirements.
• CNA experience within the last two years. If it has been more than two years, you must complete another training and competency program before providing services.
• Must be able to successfully pass the competency program of the care center.
• Current CPR certification.
