Job Summary:

The Home Health Aide (HHA) provides clients with personal care and homemaker/companion services according to an established plan of care, enabling them to remain in their residence.

Essential Functions:

1. Personal Care:

   • Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, nail/skin care, back care, foot care, shampoo, oral hygiene, ambulation, transfers, range of motion exercises, and the safe use of equipment and assistive devices (wheelchair, walker, crutches, cane).
   • Assist with changing positions, toileting, commode use, incontinent care, meal planning, preparation, and feeding assistance.

2. Companion/Sitter/Household Management:

   • Provide companionship and respite services for families.
   • Perform homemaking activities such as vacuuming, dusting, sweeping or mopping floors, doing dishes, changing bed linens, laundry, and bathroom cleaning.

3. Medication Services:

   • Assist with medications that the client self-administers.

Qualifications/Educational Requirements:

• High school diploma or G.E.D. certificate.
• Successful completion of a state-approved Certified Nurse Aide or Home Health Aide course.
• At least six months of experience as a Certified Nurse Aide or Home Health Aide (in homes or facilities).
• Good standing on the State’s Caregiver Registry.
• Minimum score of 80% on the competency exam (Home Health Aide Test).
• Passing criteria on Ethics test.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English as needed for the job.
• Valid driver’s license and access to insured transportation.
