Job summary

CarMax is seeking a Vehicle Delivery Driver in San Antonio to transport and deliver vehicles to customers’ homes and to appraisal locations. You’ll maintain safety standards, complete required inspections, and ensure accurate documentation while representing CarMax with professionalism.

The role emphasizes dependability, adherence to DOT/FMCSA rules, and delivering exceptional customer service in varying weather and traffic conditions.

Qualifications

• 21 years of age or older with a valid state-issued driver’s license.
• Clean driving record with no serious violations in the past three years; candidates must meet CarMax’s Driver Safety Evaluation criteria.
• Physical ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds; secure, block, and restrain vehicles during transport; and perform repetitive physical tasks including pulling, torquing, and tensioning chains, binders, and straps to meet FMCSA and CarMax load securement standards.
• Must be able to climb, bend, and kneel to access and secure vehicles on multi-level transport decks.
• Must possess or obtain a DOT Medical Card before starting with CarMax.

Responsibilities

• Safety first — conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections in compliance with DOT and CarMax standards using a company hauler.
• Stay compliant — maintain accurate and compliant DOT logs and documentation.
• Transport with care — load, secure, transport, and unload CarMax vehicles safely and efficiently, including hands-on freight handling, ladder climbing, and working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Be accountable — move vehicles between CarMax locations and approved vendors using a company-provided truck, keeping equipment clean and operationally ready.
• Deliver with purpose — deliver vehicles accurately and on time to support inventory flow and keep customers and stores on schedule.
• Represent CarMax professionally — interact with vendors, store associates, and the public reflecting our values every time.
• Safety first — drive a non-Class-A Commercial Motor Vehicle and comply with DOT standards.
• Be accountable — move vehicles between customer locations, CarMax locations and vendors with a company-provided truck, maintaining readiness.
• Deliver an exceptional customer experience — follow CarMax Standard Work to prepare and execute home deliveries and appraisal pickups, handling all paperwork accurately.
