Job summary

Community Renewal Team Inc. in Hartford, CT is seeking a Part-Time Home Delivery Coordinator to oversee meal deliveries to home-bound participants and recruit/instruct volunteers for routes.

You will work with the Program Manager to ensure meals are delivered safely, maintain food temperature standards, check labels, and perform semi-annual eligibility assessments for clients while providing coverage as needed. Bilingual Spanish is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or GED preferred
  • 1–2 years of experience
  • Valid Driver’s license and good driving record
  • Good customer service and communication skills; basic computer skills
  • Knowledge of working with elderly/volunteers or non-profit agencies; Spanish preferred

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate delivery of home-delivered meals and maintain proper food temperature standards
  • Establish volunteer network and delivery routes for meal delivery
  • Ensure delivery of meals to clients
  • Conduct semi-annual assessments to determine eligibility for home-delivered meals
  • Receive calls from drivers and report concerns to Program Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Home Delivery Coordinator
DEPARTMENT: Delivery
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
PAY GRADE: 3
REPORTS TO: Program Manager - Seniors
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

Coordinates delivery of home delivered meals to home-bound participants in the Tolland County. Recruits and instructs volunteers for delivery of meals.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Work with Program Manager to maintain accepted standards of food sanitation and safety regarding maintenance of proper food temperature.
  • Establish a network of volunteers and delivery routes for meal delivery.
  • Responsible for ensuring delivery of meals to clients.
  • Conducts semi-annual assessments to determine whether clients still meet the eligibility requirements for home delivered meals.
  • Receive calls from drivers when any problems might occur, and report concerns to Program Manager.
  • Check labels on meals for accuracy.
ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Provide coverage for various positions when necessary.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
  • Education: High school graduate or GED preferred
  • Minimum Years of Experience: 1 to 2 years of experience
  • Active Certification in good standing: Valid Driver’s license and good driving record is required
  • Demonstrate skills: Good customer service skills. Must have knowledge of basic computer skills. Possess excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge: Prior work with the elderly and volunteers or non-profit agencies.
  • Bilingual: preferred Language: Spanish
  • Driving Required: YES Agency Vehicle: No Employee’s Own Vehicle: Yes with proof of auto liability insurance Active Driver License in good standing required upon hire and throughout employment

  • Physical Ability: Tasks involve the ability to exert very moderate physical effort in light work, typically involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (12-20 pounds).
  • Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require visual perception and discrimination. Some tasks require oral communications ability.
  • Environmental Factors: Tasks are regularly performed with potential exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as strong odors, fumes, dusts, wetness, humidity, machinery, and toxic/poisonous agents.
