The Resident Specialist III Home Decorator performs moderately complex (journey-level) design and planning work in a residential environment. Work involves creating and maintaining the interior and exterior environments of all residential homes on the facility by working with a variety of staff including Facility Leadership, Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) and individuals to individualize design plans, themes, and color schemes based on desires, needs, and prescribed requirements. Maintains an inventory of furniture and décor and ensures needs are sustained by keeping extra inventory on hand. Submits and follows up on work orders as needed to maintain the interior and exterior home environment and mitigate safety hazards. Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Essential Job Functions (EJFs): (Beginning) specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.
Ensures support is maintained for all individuals in their living environments by working with the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) including but not limited to the Qualified Developmental Disability Professional, Nursing and Physicians, Home manager and staff, Habilitation and Vocational Therapies, parents/guardians, the individual, etc. to create design plans, themes, and color schemes that fit the individuals’ needs and personality.
Monitors living conditions and prepares and distributes correspondence, forms and documents and monitoring reports as needed for work orders and maintenance requests. Purchases items needed for design plan.
Participates as a team member to plan resident assessments and program goals, objectives, strategies, and activities. Designs and presents plan for the individual's environment, to include but not limited to: paint scheme, home décor scheme, bedding, furniture, window dressings, etc.
Communicates with other departments including but not limited to IDT, maintenance, purchasing department, volunteer services and other residence and facility employees or other interested parties regarding individuals’ home décor needs and services.
Maintains facility property, equipment, and individuals’ personal effects. Develops and maintains inventory on hand for each design plan for immediate replacement for damaged items.
Performs related work as assigned. May assist with facilities management responsibilities, including repairs, key controls, or supply and equipment requisitions.
Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency’s obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities (KSAs): Knowledge of Life Safety Code, and applicable building standards for State Supported Living Centers (SSLCs).
Knowledge of the practices, principles, and use of computers and computer software. Interpersonal skills and problem-solving skills.
Skill in using relevant software applications (Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database).
Ability to effectively communicate over the telephone, to communicate verbally, and in writing.
Ability to identify and define customer needs; gather, assemble, correlate and analyze facts; and devise solutions to problems.
Ability to accurately perform data entry, analysis of data, and prepare concise and accurate reports.
Ability to use independent judgment and to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
Ability to establish effective working relationships with supervisory personnel, co-workers, health professionals, and the public.
Ability to react calmly and quickly in emergency situations.
Ability to design and coordinate paint color, furniture, and home décor.

Initial Screening Criteria: Education-
Required: Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent is required.
Preferred: Associate degree in any field is preferred.
Experience-
Required: Work experience at a State Supported Living Center.
Preferred: Experience designing home environments or conducting environment reviews is preferred

Flexibility in work hours may be required for this position. The position may be required to work overtime and/or extended hours. Must be willing to work weekends and holidays.
