Job summary

Gurwin Healthcare System is seeking a full-time Assistant Human Resources Supervisor for the Home Care Agency. This role supports employee relations, benefits administration and payroll coordination within a dynamic healthcare environment on Long Island.

Responsibilities include recruitment, onboarding, policy guidance, leave administration and documentation, with opportunities for growth in a team-focused setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field.
• 2–3 years of generalist HR experience including employee relations, benefits administration, employment law and compensation.
• Healthcare/home care HR experience preferred.
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills; strong written and oral communication.

Responsibilities

• Advise management on employee relations issues and workplace concerns, including performance improvement plans and terminations.
• Meet with employees to address concerns; conduct investigations and propose actions with guidance from senior HR leadership.
• Maintain personnel profiles and ensure documentation is complete for new assignments.
• Coordinate benefits (medical, dental, vision, tuition reimbursement) and manage open enrollment; audit bills.
• Administer leaves such as FMLA/PFL and track return-to-work documentation.
• Oversee recruitment processes including job postings, screening, interviewing, background checks, and onboarding.
• Handle payroll coordination for LHCSA administrative staff and assist with timekeeping systems.
• Conduct new-hire orientation and ensure HR paperwork is complete.
• Monitor licenses/certifications, performance evaluations, I-9s, and work authorizations.
• Plan and organize employee recognition events and annual staff celebrations.
