Summary:

Our KARM Home Care Center is a safe, respectful environment based in Biblical hospitality for both our guests and our staff.Our team provides healthcare and recuperation support for both male and female KARM guests.We strive to offer an environment of hope, growth, and commitment to support our guests continued physical, mental, and spiritual recovery. We have a dynamic team that is growing with an inspiring “can-do” approach to patient care. There is no room for “That’s not my job.” in our department.
Responsibilities:
- Patient care and assessments.
- Advocate for our guests and coordinate their needs.
- Treat guests and coworkers with overwhelming Biblical hospitality and respect.
- Provide spiritual comfort through listening, prayer, and guidance for guests as opportunities are presented.
- Administrative tasks and responsibilities.
- Ensure the safety and security of the HomeCare environment for guests, employees, and volunteers.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness.
- Represent KARM appropriately to guests, volunteers, donors, and partner agencies.
- Ability to work interdependently with other KARM teams and community partners.
Requirements
- This position reports to KARM’s Care Center Director.
- One year of relevant healthcare experience preferred.
- A basic understanding of trauma, mental illness and substance abuse.
- Ability to show compassion, set appropriate boundaries, and exercise mature judgment.
- Ability to identify, respond, and defuse crisis situations.
- Attend CPR and Basic First Aid training within 2 weeks of hire.
- Good organizational and administrative skills including accurate documentation.
- Ability to receive and give directions.
- High degree of flexibility.
- A working knowledge of community resources.
- Basic understanding of boundary setting and protection of patient medical information.
- Current driver’s license.
- Commitment to the Christian faith.
Working Conditions
- KARM’s ministry campus facility with restricted access in the KARM Home Care Center.
- Healthcare in a home-like setting.
- Walking, standing, sitting, bending, and minimal lifting are required.
- Exposure to infectious diseases requiring understanding of universal precautions.
- Exposure to stressful patient situations requiring compassion and discernment.
- Attendance at meetings and occasional special events as requested by the Director, which may be outside of the normal work schedule.
- The KARM Home Care Center is part of KARM’s 24/7 staff category. Staffing schedules including holiday coverage will be coordinated through the Director.

- CPR/AED/First Aid
- Wound care training
- Trauma Informed Care.
- Boundaries within the workplace.
- Protocols for managing exposure to bodily fluids.
- Infection control.
- Management of communicable diseases.
- De-escalation of behaviors.
- Orientation for understanding and maintaining patient care plans.
- Real-time recognition of medical issues.
- Case management software (Case Worthy)
