Job summary

Wayfinder Family Services is seeking a part-time Child Development Specialist for Los Angeles. You will provide in-home and community-based interventions for young children with visual impairment or multiple disabilities, coordinating with families and educators to support IFSP outcomes.

The role emphasizes collaboration with regional centers, direct assessment, and referrals, with a focus on helping families advocate for education and access to services.

Qualifications

• A minimum of a BA/BS in a related field from an accredited university is required.
• Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
• Valid CA Driver License with at least three years of good driving history.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct intervention in the child's natural environment (home, center-based site, or hospital).
• Conduct functional vision and developmental assessments using observation, interviews, and formal tools.
• Develop and implement each child’s IFSP and outcomes with the family and education team.
• Assist families in transitioning to public schools or appropriate preschools.
• Collaborate with community providers to identify children with vision loss and delays.
• Complete/maintain client case files and related documentation.

Education

A minimum of a B.A., B.S. degree in Special Education, Child Development, Orientation and Mobility, Infant or Early Childhood, Social Work, or another related field from an accredited university is required.
