    Posting Summary:

    The Hollingworth Preschool at Teachers College, Columbia University is seeking a Part Time Assistant Preschool Teacher to join our on campus preschool team. The incumbent will demonstrate a desire to learn pedagogical methodology in the early childhood classroom, the cross domain development of very young children, support a teacher and child led curriculum, and the essential role of play. The Part Time Assistant Preschool Teacher will work under the direction of the preschool director and collaboratively with the preschool teachers. The incumbent will work 20 - 27 hours per week. Compensation includes an hourly salary of 20.00 and 9 credits of exemption allocated as follows: 3 credits fall term, 3 credits spring term, 3 credits summer term.

    Job Summary/Basic Function:

    • Document each child and daily class observations; keep anecdotal records
    • Participate in child study meetings
    • Continuously scaffold each child to ensure ongoing growth
    • Participate with the children during every component of the day.
    • Professional learning
    • Attend, plan and participate in weekly staff meetings
    • Attend and participate in professional learning sessions
    • Participate in maintaining the environment of the classroom
    • Participate in the organization, storage, and cleaning of materials
    • Participate in the organization of the library
    • Participate in the organization and cleanliness of the teacher work area.
    • Other responsibilities as assigned

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • MA in progress in early childhood, child development, or a related area
    • One year of experience with young children in a formal/informal setting or as a caregiver in a home
    • Ability to comply with the Teachers College Minors on Campus Policies as well as New York City Bureau of Child Care requirements including all mandatory trainings
    • Ability to work collaboratively within a team setting
    • Ability to adhere to the highest standards of confidentiality and professionalism
    • Ability to attend to all responsibilities with respect, initiative, attention to detail, organization, and independent follow through
    • Must have flu vaccine
    • Must abide by all Covid safety mitigation in the classroom

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Teachers College Graduate student

    Must commit for the full academic year beginning on August 21, 2023 and concluding on June 14, 2024 with availability to work 20 - 27 hours per week between 8:15 - 3:15.

    Salary Range:

    $20/hr - $20/hr
