What if a career in financial services were less about watching markets and more about understanding people?
We are looking for thoughtful, relationship-oriented professionals who are curious about building a career helping individuals, families, and business owners make important financial decisions with greater clarity and confidence.
You do not need to come to this opportunity as a financial expert or already hold securities licenses. New York Life provides extensive training, mentoring, and resources to help Financial Professionals develop their knowledge and build their practice. The career begins as a Financial Professional (Agent), with opportunities to pursue additional licensing and credentials over time, including becoming a Registered Representative and, for those who qualify and choose that path, a Financial Advisor.
The work is holistic and highly relational. You will learn to understand what matters to clients, uncover questions they may not know to ask, identify financial needs and priorities, and help them consider appropriate strategies for protection, retirement, accumulation, distribution, and legacy goals.
As your experience, licensing, and credentials grow, so can the scope of the work you are qualified to provide.
Financial-services experience can be helpful, but it is not required.
People come to this career from many different backgrounds. Education, teaching, business ownership, military, healthcare, banking, insurance, sales, leadership, law enforcement, nonprofit work, coaching, hospitality, and other people‑centered professions can all develop skills that translate meaningfully to this work.
You do not have to arrive knowing how to do all of this.
New York Life provides Financial Professionals with training, licensing and professional‑development resources, mentoring, peer learning opportunities, and access to specialists who can support more complex client situations.
A potential career progression may include:
Financial Professional (Agent) → Registered Representative with NYLIFE Securities LLC → Financial Advisor
Each stage has its own licensing, training, production, compliance, and eligibility requirements. Individuals can build a career that reflects their interests and goals; not everyone needs to pursue the same path.
This is an opportunity to build something of your own while having the resources and support of an established company behind you.
For the right person, the appeal is the combination of purpose, relationships, entrepreneurship, professional growth, and flexibility. The work can grow with you as your knowledge, credentials, client relationships, and practice develop.
